Pilates Classes

Suitable for: From beginners to experienced

“It is the mind itself which builds the body” Joseph Pilates
Pilates classes teach you how to be mindful of good posture, how to rebalance and awaken the body to feel energised, how to move safely and effectively for better performance and well-being so you can enjoy life to the full, free of pain and unnecessary tension.

Going beyond the classical Pilates repertoire, you will challenge your body from top to toes in these effective, functional and fun classes. Expect a lot of standing work for balance, strength and flexibility as well as floor work.

Classes are relaxed, friendly and small enough (a maximum of 13 people) to ensure individual attention to each student. Classes are held in a large bright dance studio so you will have plenty of room to express yourself!

Classes are available for beginners to learn the basics and for more advanced students.

The Garage Studio provides all equipment needed for the classes. Just wear comfortable clothing, no trainers needed.

“Working with Murielle changed my life. Through the specific exercises she gave me, I have been able to significantly strengthen my core and have noticed a major reduction in pain episodes. Her expert knowledge of the musculo-skeletal system means she can really target the right areas. She is a pleasure to work with - she never let me cheat and has a wicked sense of humour. I wish I could see her every day!”
Alistair McGowan, Comedian/actor
“Growing old with Murielle is the best fun (and hard work) ever! Flexibility and core strength; listening to your body; doing only what your body can do, but always checking just in case it can do a little bit more! Kindness and laughter prevail at The Pilates Studio.”
Gilly Best
“I have been in Murielle’s classes since they started in Barnes in 1999. Her approach to functional Pilates is very much part of my life and helps me manage my occasionally painful back. I hadn’t experienced such attention to detail and people’s individual needs in any type of exercise class before. It’s fun too - I wouldn’t miss my Wednesday morning session for the world”
Helen Bantock
“Murielle’s knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and skill as a Pilates teacher along with her familiarity with all manner of injuries and conditions is second to none. I have a scoliosis and Murielle’s classes have simply been a life saver for my back, such that I rarely have pain now. The Garage studio provides a spacious and pleasant environment for her excellent classes.”
Carolyn Dalal
“Nice relaxed welcoming studio. You just have to arrive and Murielle takes care of everything else. Would definitely recommend.“
Moira Edey
“I have been taking Pilates lessons with Murielle since 1999. Murielle is highly trained and knowledgeable and her teaching style is totally professional. Murielle is so helpful when people have an injury or problem and always follows through with suggestions and action. She has helped me a great deal recently through a bad back problem. Murielle also makes classes a lot of fun and arranges extra activities such as Christmas dinners, French dinners and City walks. I have made lots of friends through my Pilates group! Class times can be flexible too which is helpful if you have a busy schedule. The Garage Studio is a lovely place to take lessons. Bright, white and spacious. Really I could not recommend Murielle and her Pilates classes more highly. She is a lovely person. 5 stars plus plus!”
Diana Midmer
“As a relative newcomer, just the two and a half years compared to a decade or more for others, I can’t recommend Murielle highly enough. She focuses on what matters – none of your fancy stuff, just basic and comprehensive pilates exercises for all levels – beginners through to experienced. The classes are small so Murielle can and does keep a handle on individual weaknesses and will always suggest alternatives if appropriate. The studio is perfect – light, airy and spacious.”
Marietta Cauchi
“Pilates with Murielle is a personal experience and group experience at the same time. Murielle always take time out with each class member. Her style is fun and focussed all at the same time.”
Sally Graham
"I am new to Pilates and although I found the class difficult at first Murielle's expert instruction, dedication and care have given me increasing confidence week by week. The Garage Studio is a pleasant and relaxing environment.”
Victoria Davey
“The venue is a perfect space, light and airy and plenty of room whilst being quite private. The small class sizes mean you get almost 1:1 tuition whilst enjoying the company of others. Murielle is extremely knowledgeable and guides you carefully though the movements. You always feel very supported and able to progress at your own pace. Highly recommended!”
Karen Segal
“The Pilates classes at the Garage Studio are excellent. Murielle is an inspired teacher and keeps classes interesting and they stretch us to and beyond the limit we may set ourselves. I started the class after a hip replacement and it has made a huge difference to my posture and mobility. Murielle focuses on areas such as balance and posture that many other instructors do not do. There are sessions at a good variety of times during the week and one is able to swap if required. She also organises other events such as French dinners which are great fun and the Garage community are a great bunch of people.”
Annabel Gaastra
“Murielle is a great teacher. Not one of the breed that stands in front of the mirrors and checks out only herself. Murielle has eyes in the back of her head so no cheating! Murielle manages to combine teaching a whole class but also to giving individually help where necessary.”
